Happy Farmer

The Farm Worker Program is designed to provide accessible and coordinated healthcare services to the migrant and seasonal agricultural workers in our community. Through this program, farmworkers are connected to local healthcare providers who offer primary and preventive care services, as well as behavioral health, dental, substance use services, and more. In addition, this program provides educational resources to these farmworkers and their families to help improve their overall health and well-being.

By providing these services and resources, this program aims to improve the health and quality of life of agricultural workers in our community by addressing any barriers to care. We have found that programs, like our own, that are community-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and that offer comprehensive and continuous services, increase the likelihood that the farmworker will get needed services and not be lost to follow-up.

Ultimately, our outreach efforts increase the accessibility, acceptability, and appropriateness of available health services to migrant and seasonal farmworkers in our area. Outreach is considered an integral part of any healthcare system, and it is no different here at MCHP. In addition to getting farmworkers to health centers, our community health workers play a key role in connecting farmworker communities to health services.
