Emily Owens, PharmD, BCACP, BC-ADM, CPP is a WNC native from McDowell County. She graduated from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy - Asheville in 2018, where she was a rural health scholar. She completed her PGY1 residency at Community Health Care, a federally qualified health center in Tacoma, WA. During residency, she gained a passion for working with underserved patient populations and advocating for the clinical pharmacist's role in filling care gaps. She has four years experience working in primary care and currently works as a clinical pharmacist practitioner in Mitchell/Yancey County. She is a preceptor for APPE students from UNC and her practice serves as a rural teaching site. Her clinical and research focuses include diabetes specialty management, hepatitis C, substance use disorder, mental health, and transitions of care. Outside of work she enjoys hiking and camping with her husband Kaleb and her fur baby Moose.
