Outside of work I like to look for treasures at Herman's downtown Spruce Pine and repurpose them. Working outside with flowers, cutting grass on a riding lawn mower with my bathing suit on, and taking long road trips eating picnic snacks with the windows down and the radio on.
Tonya Phillips, MA,RD, LDN is a registered dietitian with a background in both nutrition and exercise science. Tonya began her education at Clemson University, where she received a bachelor's degree.. Tonya then moved to NC to pursue a master's degree at Appalachian State University in Nutrition, followed by a Dietetic Position with Watauga Medical Center.
As Director of Nutrition with Spruce Pine Hospital, Tonya cared for the in patient's clinical needs as well as developed an out-patient nutrition therapy program, established a wellness program for the staff and collaborated with the Head start program to develop menus.
Currently, as the Clinical Dietitian with MCHP, "It is a privilege to serve our community and help create healthy lifestyles that bring such remarkable results."
